When to Replace Your Tires | Bell Mitsubishi | Rahway, NJ
When to Replace Your Tires
Tire maintenance is a crucial aspect of vehicle maintenance and involves tire rotations and maintaining proper air pressure. We offer both services during your routine oil change at Bell Mitsubishi. However, tires are not made to outlast your vehicle, so there will come a time when you need to get new tires.
How do you know when it’s time to replace the tires? Look for these warning signs:
Worn tread: A tire’s tread ensures that it grips the road properly so you can maintain control in all conditions. If the tread depth is nearing 1/16 of an inch as it’s wearing down, it is definitely time to replace your tires—though, for your safety, you will want to do so much sooner. We will monitor tread depth every time we service your vehicle, but you can also perform the classic penny test on your own.
Cracks: If there are cracks in the sidewall of the tire, bring your car in for us to inspect. Cracks in a tire are reparable—to a point. We will do our best to keep the car going on the same four tires, but if the damage is too extensive, we will recommend replacement.
Vibration: If you notice an abnormal amount of vibration when driving your car, there are likely issues with your tires. To be sure, bring your car in to be inspected.
If your car needs a new set of tires, take it to Bell Mitsubishi. Our service crew will equip it with a quality set fit for the road ahead.
